Smith’s Gloucester, contracted to Brittania needed a 969m3 storm water management system for a new Tesco distribution centre in Magor, South Wales. Two of the key issues were speed of installation, and loading capacity as the system needed to be located underneath the HGV service yard. It was decided by the design engineer and the contractor that the GEOlightTM storm water management package offered by Sustainable Drainage Systems Ltd provided the most cost effective solution in terms of performance, buildability and cost. GEOlightTM, our low-weight, modular, honeycombed structure, made from 100% recycled PVC, offers 95% water retention void, fewer distribution pipes and manholes, and also reduced excavation over other systems. During installation it emerged that a 55 tonne piling rig had to be trafficked over the GEOlightTM system. This was achieved with no disruption to the installation or programme of works on site. |
