An article on surface water runoff quality, written by SDS Marketing Development Manager, Jo Bradley, has been printed in the September issue of ‘Waste & Wastewater’ (‘WWT’) magazine (Volume 60, Issue 9).
The article focusses in particular on the quality of water runoff from highways and outlines solutions to deal with this increasingly significant problem.Pollution from urban highways, trunk roads and motorways poses significant risks to the environment from toxic metals and hydrocarbons that are carried in surface water runoff. The risks are well-documented and the regulatory tools are in place, yet outfalls are inconsistently monitored and controlled. In her article Jo looks at the tools and techniques available to tackle the problem.
